In Greek mythology, King Midas was granted the power to turn everything he touched into gold. What first seemed like a blessing soon became a curse, as even food, touch, and human connection turned into something untouchable.

The legend also speaks of his encounter with the river Pactolus, where he washed his hands and the curse was passed on, leaving behind traces of gold within its waters.

Yet the story is often remembered only for its gift, not what it revealed about desire, consequence, and the cost of excess.
